Anthony Aspinwall killed on 16/12/1971 aged 22 Anthony Aspinwall was a Private in the 1st Bn, The Gloucester Regiment, from Somerset and married with 3 children. He was shot by a sniper while on foot patrol near Alma Street off the Falls road. He was providing cover for another patrol and who were part of a house search on Milan Street. Several contacts occurred that night in addition to this one, with a total of 287 shoots being returned by the Army. He died in the Royal Hospital with his family by his side just one week after the Regiment had arrived in NI. Following an appeal by his father, the Regiment stopped wearing their shiny cap badges, fearing it made them easier targets. British Army (BA)

Norman Campbell killed on 15/12/1976 aged 19 Shot by the IRA as he and a reserve constable closed the traffic barrier at High Street, Portadown. He ws hit in the head and died instantly. His partner escaped injury despite over 30 rounds being fired from an automatic weapon being fired from the attackers car. He was from Knockchree Ave, Kilkeel and was due to be married within weeks. Stephen Waller killed on 30/12/1992 aged 23 Off duty.Shot at his home, Westland Crescent, off Cavehill Road, Belfast.Shot by the IRA when he was on leave from Cyprus in Belfast as he watched television with his wife. Two gunmen knocked on the door and asked for Stephens sister, they pushed past Mrs Waller as she opened the door and fired 13 rounds into him. He died in hospital a few hours later. William Wilson killed on 17/12/1979 aged 58 Mr Wilson was shot as he walked from the Prison to a local club for lunch. He was survived by his wife and children. Joined the Northern Ireland Prison Service in July 1949 and served for over 30 years until his murder by the IRA. He was a Senior Officer in Belfast Prison at the time of his death. Denis Wilson killed on 07/12/1971 aged 31 Shot dead by IRA after 3 gunmen entered the faily farmhouse at Curlough, near Caledon (300yds from border). Private Wilson had a cold and had went to bed when the gunmen shot him in his room. He was single. Ulster Defence Regiment (UDR)

William Wright killed on 03/12/1979 aged 58 Mr Wright had just arrived home at Lyndhurst Drive, off Ballygomartin Road, Belfast after work and was opening his garage door when he was shot. Two years earlier there had also been an attempt on his life but on that occasion he had managed to escape. Shortly before his death, Mr Wright had been awarded the British Empire Medal. He was survived by his wife and children. Mrs Wright has since died. Chief Officer Wright joined the Northern Ireland Prison Service in February 1947 and served for over 32 years until his death on 3 December 1979. He last served as a Chief in Belfast prison.
